Tons of Drought is a set of digital artworks depicting the drought in northeastern Brazil, the people who survive in these regions and their hardships, including food insecurity and lack of water. The tones and texture were chosen to bring a sense of dryness. The people appear as shadows, since the majority of the population living in these conditions is practically invisible in the eyes of the government. "Water for the future" is the fifth work in the series. Here, the woman carries a bucket of water while holding the hand of her young son. He represents the future, but he already experiences the difficulties of living in the backlands of Brazil.
